A weekend for relaxing?

Um, not for me.  I'm beginning to think relaxing is an aquired skill I don't quite have yet.  You'd think it would be easy to just cook out, sit down by the television, and just CHILL.  Right?

My brain and to-do list never stops.  Never.  But I did have a very lovely weekend!

And seeing as how it was Labor Day weekend, the name itself implies work.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it!  We finally tackled the bathroom renovation we've been planning for weeks.  I've had two bargain mirrors we bought sitting in my kitchen for over three weeks.  (Sidenote:  love Gardenridge for great, value priced mirrors for the house!)

And since I'm proud of the results, check it out:
BEFORE!

AFTER (a little blurry I know)

BUT I did have time in between home improvement projects to sneak in a little reading of this:

I'm going slower during this read and really savoring every page.  I don't want the story to end and a part of me is postponing!

AND we did cook out both hotdogs and hamburgers over the weekend, catch up with a good friend, and spend time with family.

PLUS last night I baked some of these:

They don't look nearly as pretty as Kim's picture here, but they were just as tasty!  (Just had one for breakfast...yummers!)

SO, what did you do this weekend?  Anything exciting?  Did you travel?  Were you able to relax?  Did you allow yourself to rest?

Hope everyone's week is off to a great start!

*hugs*

  1. Apparently, we're both early birds. I had a good weekend of postponing school work with the excuse of my brother crashing at my dorm. But now I'm back on track. Congrats on the bathroom. I love the color.

  2. Your bathroom looks awesome!!
I actually worked my butt off during the week, so I actually did chill for once on Sunday and Monday. I read for hours Sunday afternoon and thought, "When was the last time I spent an afternoon just reading in bed?!"
    Pass me a muffin!

  4. On Saturday night, I went to niece's QuinceƱera with too loud of music. I like Latin music, but not when the DJ's blaring it and sometimes mixing 2 and 3 songs at once. The rest of the weekend I mostly spend on the computer blog festing my time away.

I know what you're saying about the time and thinking about doing things. My biggest escape is watching movies--I like it when I find a film that I can totally escape into.

    The bathroom looks nice.

  6. Your weekend sounds wonderful.Mine was a combination of lovely (a hike in the wildnerness, a Labor Day pool party), and dealing with a family member who has health issues. Looking forward to this coming weekend with very few bona fide plans.

  7. I love and hate to remodel... love when it’s done but hate doing it.

I try and relax every weekend, if I don't the next week sucks bad!

Yea, the hunger games were a good series, nice easy reads, hope you enjoy it.

  8. Muffins... yum! I love those mirrors, Kristi. I can't believe I never thought about buying mirrors at Garden Ridge. Duh, Kim! Duh!! Love the renovation. So pretty. :)

  10. Kristi, I'm already a follower here. When did that happen? I had no idea I'd visited your blog. I'll have to not be such a stranger! I'm like you, have a really hard time relaxing. I always feel like I should be productive with every moment! A new bathroom would be VERY productive. LUCKY!

  11. Elizabeth - Oh how I miss dorm days...hope you had fun with your brother! (I have all sisters so I'm a bit jealous...always wanted a bro!) And if you notice, it took us quite a few blues to pick just the right one (you can see the sample splotches in the first photo). Glad you like it! ;-)

Kelly - Thank you!! It was hard work but totally worth it! I think I'm due for an afternoon of reading in bed...sounds relaxing!

Holly - Thank you! Hope you're doing well!

Arlee - Thank you! I'm with you on the loud music...I used to love it, but lately, not so much. Sounds like you had a pretty chill weekend as well...the way they were meant to be!

Jolene - Thank you!!! I'm kind of impressed with it myself...normally I have a grand idea and by the time we're done, something has gone wrong. It's usually more renovation realities than success...LOL. It's nice to get it right for a change!

  12. Karen - Your weekend does sound lovely! A hike was one of those things I wanted to do but didn't manage to squeeze in! Maybe this next weekend. ;-)

Jeff - I'm totally with you on the love/hate to remodel thing. Hubs and I debated for quite a few hours before deciding to jump in and get it done!

Kim - Muffins were full of awesomeness...thanks for the receipe! AND if you ever need a mirror, Garden Ridge is the place! They are priced reasonably and have about a zillion different kinds!

DL - Seriously laughed out loud at your comment because it's like you read my mind! I feel so sorry for hubs sometimes when I'm in one of my "motivated" moods. Poor guy. Seriously, he's like, a Saint.

KarenG - Know how that goes! I visit so many blogs that I find I re-fall-in-love (totally made that up) with them every now and then. I'm just coming out of a blog hiatus and it's like everything is new again! I love it! Thanks for the visit!
